Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Robert James (Jim) White on May 13, 2024, at the age of 75 in his birthplace of Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Jim was the beloved father of Walter (Tracey) White, Crystal (Jordan) Courtepatte, Michelle (Jonathan) Wilsdon, and Lee White. A cherished grandfather, Jim will also be missed deeply by his grandchildren—Schuyler, Shayden, Natasha, Ryder, Keanu, Fraser, Jonathan Jr., Sean, and Tyler.

Survived by siblings Barbara Andrews, Linda Boudreau Semaganis, Penny Fedorus, Faye Workman, Wally (Karen) Swain, and Wayne Auger, Jim was a cornerstone of his family. His love for the people and the important work at the Mannawanis Native Friendship Center highlighted his deep commitment to service and community values.

Predeceased by his parents Evelyn McKinnon and Henry White; brothers Russell, John, Lawrence, and Gordon White; paternal grandparents Joseph Leblanc and Isabella Foley; and maternal grandparents George McKinnon and Alice Blackett.

Jim was renowned for his quick-witted and endearingly sarcastic sense of humour and was widely admired for his moral integrity and immense love for family and friends. He taught us the importance of kindness, the value of laughter, and the necessity of strong values in guiding a fulfilling life.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be hosted by Jim’s family on Saturday, May 25th, starting at 11:00 am at the Mannawanis Native Friendship Centre in St. Paul, Alberta. The family invites all who knew him to share in remembering Jim. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mannawanis Friendship Center would honor Jim’s commitment to community belonging and support.
He will be profoundly missed. To send condolences online, please visit https://www.gracegardensfuneralchapel.com/obituary/robert-james-white/.
