Obituary
On June 4, 2024, Mr. Matthew Tanouye of Edmonton, Alberta formerly of St. Paul, Alberta, passed away at the age of 47 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; 2 sons, Logan & Kadence; mother, Nita (Larry) Windiuk; in-laws, Eugene & Judy Lesyk; 2 brothers, Greg (Janis) & Michael; sisters-in-law, Lori (Robert) Martin & Sheena (Michael) Maxwell; nieces & nephews, Ethan, Isaac, Dylan, Shelby, Ethan, Gavin, Aiden & Madison; Baba, Jean Lesyk; numerous relatives & friends. Matthew was predeceased by his father, Gerard; brother, Jimmy; Gido, Bill Lesyk; Baba, Zenia Haraba. A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Chapel, St. Paul. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Paul. Reverend Father Bohdan Nahachewski will be officiating with interment in the church cemetery. Those wishing to view the service online may do so by clicking the Live Service tab above. Matthew and I went to school together from grade 1 on. He was my best friend in grades 3 & 4. We rode bikes together, played at the park, hung out at each other’s houses after school, and played games. He was always friendly to everyone. He really was a great guy. My deepest sympathies to his wife, children and whole family. Thank you for sharing his memorial video at then end of the funeral. He will be greatly missed! RIP my friend!

I’ve always believed that there are angels disguised as people who walk amongst us. This is true of Mathew. His calmness, his compassion, his contagious positive outlook, his ability to make you feel better about yourself, and above all else is endless commitment and love to Cheryl and his boys are just some of the outstanding features of Mathew. He is my brother Jason’s best friend and a soul brother to him. His spirit will forever live on in those who love him the most.
