Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lawrence Michael Bodnar of Grande Prairie, formerly of St. Paul, on October 25, 2021, at the age of 74 years. Lawrence will be remembered by his two sons; Michael (Tracy) & Darryl (Donna); 2 granddaughters, Brooklyn & Morgan; sisters, Debbie (Lawrence), Joanne (John) & Judy (George); brother-in-law, Milton; as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his long-time partner, Audrey; sister, Lorraine; & parents; Mike & Rose Bodnar.

Lawrence’s hard-working and creative nature was admired by many who had the pleasure of seeing the completion of a variety of his “projects”. There was no job too big, or too small for him to tackle from intricate woodworking projects, complex electronic solutions, or metal fabricating, he accepted the challenge and could fix or build anything thrown his way. Although very humble with the results of his work, others were always quick to praise the exemplary craftsmanship. Lawrence was a strong, independent man that lived his life his way. Although he rarely expressed it externally, he cared deeply for his loved ones and demonstrated in “old fashioned” ways of fixing, building, or offering his expertise on any subject matter.

The family would like to thank the nurses on 5N at the QEII in Grande Prairie for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

A viewing will be held at Bear Creek Funeral Home, Grande Prairie on Saturday, October 30th at 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Lawrence’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Hall, St. Paul. Pastor Kelly Sibley will be officiating with inurnment in Union Cemetery, St. Paul. Cremation has taken place.
