Obituary
On April 6, 2024, Mr. Sloane Dieken of Vermilion, Alberta passed away at the age of 56 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Caroline Dieken; 2 daughters, Karley Dieken & Kathleen (Trent) Nicolay; mother, Cleta Dieken; sister, Denise Dieken; mother-and father-in law, Eva & Steve Tchir; brother-in-law, Michael (Nicole) Tchir; nieces Dalynn Tchir & Aleeza Tchir; nephew, Corwyn Tchir; numerous other relatives & friends. Mr. Dieken was predeceased by his father, Fred Dieken. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 24th at 1:00 p.m. at Spedden Hall, Spedden. Reverend Father Andrij Nykyforuk will be officiating with private inurnment in Sokal Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Spedden. If desired, donations may be made to the cemetery or a charity of one’s choice c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. Please accept my sincerest condolences. Sloane was such a great person, and one I could always go to for – well, anything, really. We worked together at the Windsor Salt Plant, and he knew absolutely everything about the place; I’m pretty sure he was everyone’s go-to person for any issue. He was larger than life in every way, and his laugh was infectious. Be comforted by the fact that he always spoke in loving terms about his family.
Great man. Great loss.
